Thursday's telly picks

Posted by Remote Control on May 31, 2007 10:48 AM |

Everyone has an opinion on transport - it affects all our lives and it's a safe bet most of us don't rate the current systems very highly.

If you are one of those people, then Road Rage Revenge (BBC 3, 9pm) is for you.

No, it's one of those Jamie Theakston-narrated programmes in which we watch half an hour of CCTV clips and marvel how people got out of the wreckage (said programmes are available at other points, this week, though!)

Comedian and ex-Top Gear presenter Alex Riley basically issues a rally cry to the nation over the state of our transport system. He's obviously not keen on it either.

He looks at various issues: utility companies digging up holes in roads, trains that are full and over-priced, and buses which just disappear in the suburbs. Expect a variety of stunts to prove the points Riley is trying to make - well worth checking out.

Over on BBC 4, programme controllers appear to be cashing in on the journalistic mantra that 'you can't beat a bit of nostalgia.' It's Children's TV season on BBC 4, so expect to see alot more programmes from this mentioned on the blog on weeks to come.

Tonight's highlight, at 8.20pm, is called 'From Grange Hill to Albert Square - and beyond' and will bascially tell us where the stars of Grange Hill have ended up. Some we know about, others are a tad more surprising.

Finally, if you're saving Hollyoaks for the Sunday omnibus, then check out Payday on Channel at 6.30pm. C5 hope it will rival Deal or No Deal in the cult stakes, and as a result, probably won't.

Colin Murray, a gloriously under-rated TV presenter in my opinion (probably because he only does C5) hosts a quiz where contestants have to try and guess what their rivals earn in work. The one closest at the end wins cash.

Hint: If your rival is a journalist, best to start low.
