It must be a tough time to be in the advice trade at the moment. People don't need to pay for advice any more, they just have to be happy to air their problems in public and they'll get all the advice they need, for free, from experts on the telly.
That's particularly the case in the business sector. If it's not Ruth Badger running around on Sky One, it's Mary, Queen of Shops (BBC 2, 9pm)
Personally, I hold the belief that if you need to go on TV to be sorted out, it's a safe bet you're beyond sorting out. Otherwise, why would they put you on the telly?
Look at the success rate of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Some failed, others didn't. But if it really takes someone like Ramsay storming in and making you look like a fool for an hour for your business to work, should you really be in business in the first place.
That said, it doesn't stop such programmes from being bloody entertaining if only for the sheer 'doh!' factor involved.
In this latest one, retail 'guru' Mary Portas sets out to keep Britain's small shopkeepers in business by sharing the tricks of the trade with failing boutiques.
Mary is in Islington, North London at Comfort and Joy, which is run by divorcees Ruth Llewellyn and Anthony Wilson. It's too late to save their marriage, but Mary thinks she can help rescue their shop and make it a beacon of fashion on the high street.
At least Mary seems to know where her strengths lie - she's not trying to save the marriage too, ala Trinny and Susannah in their vile 'lets rip their lives apart and sow them back together again and claim the credit' programme - Undressed (ITV 1, Tuesday, 8pm - no clips on here thanks!)
And so from one hobbyhorse to another: The Graham Norton Show on BBC 2 (10pm) and a simple question: Why aren't more people watching it?
What other show on the telly guarantees you absolute ridicule of the audience, and a guest couch which is just random: Tonight, Gareth Gates and Alice Cooper. Sandi Toksvig is also there. See, how more bizarre can it get?
No, they had Piers doing beatbox.
