While we went to war, Tony was....
Idle questions I may or may not have asked myself in the past: Does Diana, princess of Wales actually sell newspapers? Do Derby County fans really believe they have a cat in hell's chance of surviving in the Premiership? And what did Tony Blair do in his spare time after sending troops in Iraq in 2003?
Thanks to the internet, and The Times newspaper's excellent People column, I now have the answer
Quoting from The Times:
Remember Tony Blair in The Simpsons in 2003? How did that come about?“We had been negotiating for a while to get him on the show, Al Jean, the producer, tells the Los Angeles Times. “We got a call: ‘If you come over to 10 Downing Street right now you can get him’. This was the week that Saddam’s statue fell in Baghdad. We went to the War Cabinet room and we recorded five takes of his line. He’s got a great career in voiceover if he wants.
So now we know. Presumably, a role in Heroes awaits when he gets a spare moment sorting out the Middle East.
