Time to Mock the Week and laugh all night (with video)

Posted by Remote Control on August 9, 2007 8:30 AM |

At last, I can turn on the telly at 9pm tonight for Mock the Week (BBC 2) without that nagging feeling that I really should see out True Dare Kiss on BBC 1.

Perhaps the grass is greener on the other side - certainly the channel idents are - but tonight I shall find out. Yes, Mock the Week is back on in my house.

I can't rave about this programme enough. Those who describe it as being just like Have I Got News For You just haven't got how good it is. Dara O'Briain is an inspired host, and the fact newish talent is allowed to come through is also a bonus.

But the good thing about its slot at 9pm on a Thursday is that it isn't some bright beacon of comedy floating in a sea of worthiness, as is often the case on Two. Oh no. Thursday night is well and truly comedy nigth again on BBC 2, with the increasingly amusing Hyperdrive on just after it at 9.30pm.

Maybe I'm off the pace here, but there's something of Red Dwarf about it. Only better. There's a clip here if you want to have a look

Also tonight:

It's Me Or the Dog: (8pm, C4): Marvel at the fact people obviously feel the need to invite cameras to work out issues such as whether their human relationship is more important to them than one with a dog. Double bill tonight, as the series comes to an end.

Benidorm (ITV1, 10pm): Traditionally, ITV doesn't do sit com well. It nearly does, though, in this repeat of the Jonny Vegas vehicle.
