If the BBC re-named the 8.30am until 9.15am slot of BBC Breakfast 'The Lots of Plugs For Future Programmes Programme,' it'd be laughed off the schedules within days.
But instead, as people seeking continued news coverage are diverted off to News 24, those of us left behind get an extra half hour of plug interviews mascerading as news content.
Not that that's always a bad thing (it usually is, though). For example, last week they previewed Empathy, a one-off drama which aired on Saturday and which was about a killer released from prison who can see into people's minds when he touches them.
Naturally, the police were a bit suspect of this ex-con's visions when he realised he'd touched the coat owned by a killer. But, through good acting and a clever plot, he wins them over - and tellingly, the conclusion does leave it open for a full series, if they chose to.
I'd say - do choose so, it was cracking. More of the same, please, if that's not too 'Points of View.' If you have the new BBC iplayer, dig it out.
On the same note, News Knight with Trevor McDonald (ITV 1 - to be repeated on Thursday at 11pm)
ended last night, and although it is no Have I Got News For You, it is a very funny way to round off the weekend.
There's something slightly surreal about Sir Trev smirking at things you never thought he would - hopefully it will return, it deserves to, and perhaps a spin off DVD too?
As for tonight's telly offerings:
Hollyoaks (C4 6.30pm): Cracking plots brewing at every turn at the moment, most noticeably with Amy, the teen mum, whose mum has become mental over the child.
TV Heaven, Telly Hell (C4, 11.05pm): Room 101 for bad TV programmes, and Sean Lock tonight has Lee Mack ripping through some of the worst programmes going.
