GIVEN that those in media circles who commented on ITV's decision to appoint Julie Etchingham as Sir Trev's right-hand woman on the new News At Ten all called her a 'safe pair of hands' this gaffe is particularly amusing.
Picture the scene: Sky News, desperate as usual to fill time, cut across live to the Tory Party's speech on immigration. You know the patter by now: We'll be tough even though we can't be.
