There aren't many things guaranteed to stop work than a discussion about childrens' TV, so the announcement that Grange Hill was to be axed by the BBC will have probably hit British productivity harder than any rise in fuel prices.
Here, Remote Control - ably assisted by the newsdesks of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo - goes in search of classic Grange Hill moments on Youtube
1. Back where it all began. Grange Hill first hit the screens in 1978, this is an edit of clips from the first two episodes
2. Ask any 30-something the story they instantly think of when they ask about Grange Hill, and it's Zammo dabbling with drugs:
3. Which in turn, spawned this:
Just say no
4. Grange Hill returned to drugs several years later, this time looking at LSD
5. The programme - despite the BBC claiming it can no longer represent modern issues - has tackled all sorts along along the way, including racism...
6. And shoplifting....
7... Not to mention bullying, with this clip below showing when 'Mauler' was ganged up on by those who bullied him...
8. Romance was often in the air - most people in the office seemed to remember Stewpot...
9. One of the best-known teachers was Mr Bronson, who arrived in series 8, and was best known for his 'You Boy' catchphrase
10. And finally. Proof the original theme tune is always best
PS... And Andy Kelly insisted Trisha Yates was included
