The world's worst advert

Posted by Remote Control on July 23, 2008 11:26 PM |

That Craig Doyle chap, he's annoying isn't he? First of all, he pops up on the BBC freebie show Holiday, each week showing the nation holidays which can only be afforded by people who don't tend to watch holiday programmes.

Then, when that gravy train comes to its final destination, he's suddenly doing sport over on ITV after working within BBC Sport. If ever you needed another reason to groan at the thought of sport on ITV (think showing adverts during the vital moment which cost Lewis Hamilton the F1 title last season), here it is.

But at least Doyle can boast the world's most annoying advert, for Everest windows.

By all accounts, it's the follow-up to an old advert Everest did, with the Everest team returning to one of Britain's most exposed pubs to fit new windows.

So far, so good. Then it turns out that Everest are also fitting solar panels to this remote, exposed, windy and therefore, I suspect, quite sunshine deprived pub.

Doyle, as though just pointing to a dolphin serving drinks at a Mexico resort, then turns to the camera and says: "Well, that's something you weren't expecting Everest to be doing today."

Quite right Craig. In fact, the day I actually find myself thinking what Everest might be doing today is the day I decide to end it all.

Thank god for Sky+. It could be their new slogan: "Sky+ - guaranteeing you a Craig Doyle free TV experience."

And here's the advert:
