Kevin and Molly on Coronation Street: Too much?
As sure as summer follows spring, it's time for one of the Websters to get all randy again.
Now that at least one of the Webster children in Coronation Street is above the age of constant, the who'll-have-the-affair merry-go-round has taken a bit longer to return to one of the more regular riders.
Remember Sally's fling with the car dealer? It kind of made sense - Sally, always driven by money, had had her head turned by richer man who could lavish her with everything she wanted. Somehow, it all went wrong and she ended up back with Kevin, but it took a while.
It now looks as though Kevin's about to stray from the straight and narrow with Molly, the newly-wed of his fellow mechanic Tyrone.
Unlike Sally's fling with Ian the car dealer, there's absolutely no logic to Kevin and Molly. It's been handled with as much subtlety as a Gordon Ramsay team talk and rushed through at a pace Lewis Hamilton has only been able to dream of this year.
Molly's whole character has been built up around strong family values, a determination to do things the right way and her devotion to Tyrone. For her to jump into a tracksuit and suddenly have feelings for Kevin isn't just daft, it's just plain stupid.
As for Kevin, if you've got one daughter currently spending guilty money from the ex-teacher-who-locked-her-up-in-an-old house and another whose jumping between god-bothering and falling for boys, would you really have time to set about having an affair with your business partner's other half?
At the same time, the once devoted Tyrone suddenly is meant not to be interested in his new wife - after fighting so hard to get her in the first place. It just doesn't make sense.
Presumably the idea is that love will tear them all apart but coming so soon after the whole Carla-Tony-Liam love triangle, not to mention the Jason-Becky-Steve triple-play, it just feels as though Corrie is short on ideas, and has chucked together the first three cast members it could.
But in doing so, they could be playing with fire. Character can't change their spots so fast without unsettling the regular viewers. But what price the cover of Inside Soap these days?

It's about time Kevin brought the slug moustache back.
That would put Molly off. Has anyone else noticed her head is far too big for her body?
